PEM/PALS Course - one-day (PALS - 1-day)
This course is the abbreviated version of the PEM - 2-days. It consists of an introductory lecture, practical skills stations and case-based discussions. Practical sessions cover advanced airway and cardiovascular skills. Case-based discussions include CNS diseases, pediatric trauma, medical emergencies, and neonatal scenarios. The course content is based on the old APLS course. PALS course is included in this course and participants will also obtain their PALS certificate by completing this course.
Course Length:1 day (8 hours)
Intended Audience
This course is intended for physicians who already have advanced skills in the care of critically-ill or injured children. These include emergency room physicians, pediatricians, and senior emergency medicine and pediatric trainees.

Accreditation:
This Group Learning activity has been certified by the College of Family Physicians of Canada for 2 credits per hour. This Section 2 Traineeship program has been certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada for 2 credits per hour.
PREREQUISITES:
PALS course within previous 2 years required
APLS course within previous 2 years strongly recommended
EXAMINATION:
Participation as team member in all simulation scenarios and as team leader in at least one scenario
Written exam (must achieve 70% or better)
